Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Infielder Tim Zier is having a solid season for the Express, batting .299 with 13 RBI's this season. He says the Northwoods League season is good preparation for a possible career in baseball.
"It's really getting my body used to playing every day. Yeah, I just played 56 games at San Diego State, but here it's 70 games. So it's really just teaching my body how to deal with it and deal with the struggles of playing baseball for so long. Overall, Eau Claire is treating me well, so I'm really enjoying it," says Zier.
The San Diego State infielder might be best known to Express fans for his thick beard. He says the recent heat did not deter him from growing it out this summer.
"Nope, it's a summer tradition," adds Zier. "I grew it out last year in Alaska so I have to keep it this year. But it's a lot hotter here."
