Study: Sept. 11 is the most memorable TV moment

NEW YORK (AP) -- No event is seared in the memory of television viewers quite like the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

A study released Wednesday has found that only the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy comes close, and that was only among people aged 55 and over who were able to experience the coverage first-hand.

Sony Electronics and the Nielsen television research company ranked impactful events by asking viewers not just whether they watched big TV moments, but if they could recall where they watched it, who they watched it with and whether they talked to other people about what they had seen.

After Sept. 11, the TV event with the most impact was the coverage of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
