LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A Hollywood-supported telethon to fight cancer is returning to network and cable TV.
Gwyneth Paltrow will serve as an executive producer for the live, hour-long Stand Up to Cancer special to raise money and awareness to fight the disease.
The 2008 and 2010 versions of the fundraiser featured dozens of actors, musicians and athletes, among them George Clooney, Rihanna and Charles Barkley.
Movie producer Laura Ziskin co-founded Stand Up to Cancer and produced the telethon in 2008 and 2010. She lost her battle with breast cancer last year.
The Sept. 7 telethon will air commercial-free on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC and on cable channels. Stand Up to Cancer said more than $180 million has been pledged for innovative cancer research.
