Nick Addison slugs a solo HR for the Express
Express outfielder Nick Addison
Express pitcher Matt TrowbridgeEau Claire (WQOW) -- The Express wins for the third time in its last four games, handing the Woodchucks their first loss in the second half of the Northwoods League season, in front of 1,794 fans at Carson Park.
Eau Claire gives starter Matt Trowbridge plenty of run support, with a 4-run first inning, including an RBI single from Casey Gillaspie, and an RBI double from Jimmy Young. Nick Addison slugs a solo homer in the second inning, then Will Fadness follows with an RBI single.
Trowbridge strikes out eight hitters over six innings, while allowing one run on two hits.
"The offense did wonders for us tonight," Trowbridge says, "I mean obviously you just go out there and look to pound the strike zone and I mean just get people out. Like you don't need to really worry about much because you got a lot of runs with you, and it was just going out there and doing your job."
The Express and Woodchucks continue their series with a 6:35 P.M. game Thursday at Wausau's Athletic Park.
