UPDATE: Authorities have identified the drowning victim as Tammy Lorenz, 35, of Buffalo City.

Buffalo County (WQOW) - A woman's body was recovered from the water in Buffalo County on Wednesday night, more than 90 minutes after she went under.

The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office says a 911 call was made at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday.  A witness said a woman had been on a sand bar north of Buffalo City near what is known as the Belvidere landing.  The woman, who was 35 years old, was walking in the water when she went off a steep ledge or was swept under by the current.  She went under and did not resurface.

Rescue crews pulled her body out of the water about 150 yards downstream around 8:30 p.m.  Her name has not been released.
