Gus Macker 3-On-3 Basketball Tourney This Weekend

Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The 13th-annual Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is set for this weekend on First Avenue, adjacent to Owen Park.

Tournament organizer Jim Gobler says, "We have 236 teams this year. We have more top men's courts this year than we've had in the past. We have some good competition going on in the top end, but we have a steady flow of the young kids too."

The 2012 Gus Macker tips off with the Heroes Division Friday, at 5:00 P.M., when the Eau Claire Police Department plays the Eau Claire Fire Department.  

The Media Division will follow at 6:30 P.M., with a game between the Leader-Telegram and Marshfield Clinic.  At 7:00 P.M., it'll be a intra-building battle between WQOW and News 18 Sports. The winners will square off at 7:30 P.M.

Registration for all other teams will go on all Friday evening, with the remainder of the divisions getting going Saturday morning.  The dunk competition will take place around 5-6 PM Saturday, with the tournament wrapping up Sunday afternoon.
