Eau Claire Cavaliers Fundraiser For Phil Isaakson

Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The Eau Claire Cavaliers will host Westmont (IL) Friday evening, while also raising funds for former Cavs pitcher Phil Isaakson.

Isaakson, an Eau Claire North H.S. graduate who went on to pitch at the University of Minnesota, has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for the last few months after being diagnosed with an inoperable form of brain cancer.

Also participating in the fundraiser will be Northern Elite Football teams Eau Claire Crush and Chippewa Valley Predators, which will be meeting at the Carson Park football field at 7:00 P.M.  A donation bucket will be passed around during the football game.  The Cavs baseball game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 P.M.

"All we're asking of people is to give what they can," says Cavaliers manager Mark McHorney, "as I've said to people, you may not be a baseball fan, you may not be a Cavaliers fan or a Crush or Predators fan, but you're a Phil Isaakson fan. Come out and support a local kid."
