Leonhard gives back with youth camp

Posted:

Tony (WQOW) -- The 5th annual Jim Leonhard youth football camp wrapped up on Sunday at Flambeau High School.

For campers, it's a chance to learn the game from an NFL star who started his career in a small town before making it big. Joining Leonhard as an instructor was Seattle Seahawks safety Chris Maragos.

"To see what Jim does with his heart behind it and to see what he does for the community and the communities around here, you can't help but want to be a part of that," says Maragos.

Leonhard says the camp is a way to teach kids the game, and inspire the next wave of small school players.

"It's great to give back because I feel like it was the one thing I was missing out on as a I was growing up. If there was a camp like this I would have just died to go to it," adds Leonhard. "Just to come back to this area in Northwest Wisconsin and give back to the kids and to bring in as great of a staff as possible -- that's what it's all about."
