Know limitations while exercising outdoors

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - With temps nearing 100,  the warnings are loud and clear and heat stroke can happen quickly, so take it easy.

Needless to say, what News 18 saw Monday night, on Eau Claire's south side, was a surprise.

More than two dozen people showed up for an outdoor fitness program.  Pack The Park is an outdoor boot camp at South Middle School held every Monday.  The program incorporates routines to work out different parts of the body.

The instructor says he's making sure participants stay cool and safe during the workout.

"We bring the waters and we bring the wet towels.  We take the exercises slower than we usually would.  We take a lot more breaks. We focus on breathing and really focusing on the form that we're doing," says Pack The Park Trainer, Jeff Rogers.

The most important piece of advice he had was, if you're going to exercise outdoors on a day like Monday, know your limitations.
