Chippewa County (Press Release) - The Chippewa Fire District has placed a Fire Ban in all
municipalities served by the Chippewa Fire District. The only exception is
cooking fires within a fire ring or Fire pit.
This ban takes effect at 12:00 AM
on Wednesday July 18 and will continue until the Fire Index is lowered to
"Moderate" by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The
current Fire Index for Chippewa County is "High" with Eau Claire
County being rated at "Very High."
Authority for such a ban is outlined in Wisconsin Administrative
Code DSPS 314 Fire Prevention see below:

110.11.2 The AHJ (Fire Department
Chief) shall have the authority to prohibit any or all open flames, and
open, recreational, and cooking fires or other sources of ignition, or establish
special regulations on the use of any form of fire or smoking material where
circumstances make such conditions hazardous.
The Fire Prevention Code supports and
augments the efforts of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Persons
who start a fire and lose control of it may be fined or pay the costs
associated with the suppression of the fire.
A reminder to residents of the Village of
Lake Hallie on the municipal water system watering is prohibited except for
vegetable gardens, ornamental flowers and newly planted trees to insure proper
water supply for fire suppression.

plenty of water, get proper rest, avoid the over consumption of alcohol, wear
light color clothing, seek shade and wear sunscreen to have a fun Fest
experience.
