Chippewa County (WQOW) - Voters in Chippewa County could be asked whether they think corporations should have the same rights as people.

On Monday, the Chippewa County Executive Committee is discussing whether to put a referendum question on the November ballot. It would ask voters if the U.S. Constitution should be amended to say limiting political contributions and spending is not a limit on the freedom of speech.

The measure is in response to a 2010 Supreme Court ruling allowing corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on elections. The Eau Claire County board approved a similar referendum in June.
