Bartender who lied about bar robbery sentenced

Posted:

Dunn County (WQOW) - A Menomonie bartender who said he was held-up at gunpoint has been sentenced for making the whole thing up.

In February, Robert Lawson told Dunn County deputies the Veterans Center bar in Menomonie was robbed by a gunman while he was working.  A week later, investigators said Lawson confessed there was no robber, and that he had taken the money.

A Dunn County judge ordered Lawson to repay almost $900, spend 20 days in jail, and do community service.
