Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Daniel Rockett's 3-run homer in the 12th inning off of Express reliever Harvey Martin lifts Battle Creek to a 6-3 win over Eau Claire in front of 1,619 fans at Carson Park.
For a second straight night, the Express jumps out to a quick lead over the Bombers, but unlike Monday, Eau Claire can't sustain the offense.
"We hit the ball right at them after that," says Express manager Dale Varsho, "[Bombers pitcher Casey] Mulholland did a pretty good job after the first inning and kind of battled through it, and we just didn't put anything together."
Eau Claire gets an RBI triple from Blake Schmit, an RBI fielder's choice from Casey Gillaspie, and a solo homer from Alex Real to take a 3-0 lead after the first inning. Battle Creek comes back with three runs in the third, including a 2-run double by Rockett.
The Express moves on to begin a series with the La Crosse Loggers. Wednesday's game will be a 6:35 P.M. start at Carson Park, with the two teams set to play a 7:05 P.M. game Thursday at Copeland Park.
