'Mad Men,' 'American Horror Story' lead Emmy nods

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Emmy nominations are out and "Mad Men" and "American Horror Story" are leading the pack.

"Mad Men" received 17 Emmy nominations Thursday and a chance to set a record as the most-honored drama series in TV history. Stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss are up for lead acting honors.

The miniseries "American Horror Story" received a matching 17 awards, including an acting nod for star Connie Britton.

Other leading nominees include drama series "Downton Abbey" and two miniseries, "Hatfields & McCoys" and "Hemingway & Gellhorn."

The Emmy ceremony is scheduled to air on ABC on Sept. 23.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Primetime Emmy nominations for best television drama series have been announced in Los Angeles by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.


The nominees announced Thursday morning are: "Boardwalk Empire," "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," "Homeland" and "Mad Men."

The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 23 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and airing live on ABC.
