Bloomer (WQOW)-Public health researchers are in the Chippewa Valley this week gathering information about area health.
The survey of the health of Wisconsin, SHOW, has been gathering health information since 2008.
For the next couple of weeks the group is in bloomer. They select communities in Wisconsin and people at random to ask questions about their health, life style and their community. Those that agree to participate in the survey are also weighed, measured and asked to give DNA samples.
"If you want to make things better you have to start by knowing where you are. And this study lets us know where we are and by following people over time it lets us see how things change and then we can start to understand what the factors are that make that change whether it's for good or for ill," said Christine McLaughlin, the survey of the health of Wisconsin.
The public health researchers will visit 36 communities around the state throughout the year.
