Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - Sunday will be the first of two
benefits for an Elk Mound girl battling cancer.
Josie Gorell is a 10-year-old from
Elk Mound who was diagnosed with optic glioma, a cancerous tumor located
between her optic nerves. Her family is hosting a volleyball benefit at Loopy's
in Chippewa Falls on Sunday, hoping to spread the
word about the disease and raise funds for her ongoing treatment.
"The community
support towards Josie, it gives her more strength. And we obviously draw
strength from that support," said Josie's mother Lori Gorell.
There are still openings for the
volleyball benefit. It begins at 10 a.m. Sunday and teams may still sign up
until about 15 minutes before the games begin.
