Eau Claire (WQOW) - One of the victims in the Colorado theater shooting is a Wisconsin native... Carey Rottman, who was shot in the leg that Friday night.
He has undergone one surgery…and still faces at least one more. So far, 27-year old Carey, who is originally from Mequon, has been visited by the governor of Colorado, members of the Denver Broncos, and he got a phone call from Peyton Manning. But the most special visitor came yesterday... A 17-year-old girl who helped Carey after he'd been shot.
"After he got to the parking lot, four kids came and picked him up and carried him to a grassy area, and one of the girls who he met yesterday, took off her belt and put a tourniquet around his leg and compressed the bleeding. Then her brother ran and got a police officer, one of the first to arrive on scene. They flagged him down and they came right to him, put him in their car and took him directly to the hospital," says Carey's dad, Dr. Dale Rottman.
The 17-year-old girl came to the hospital with her mother. After she heard Carey wanted to meet her.
Carey was at the movie with a friend, who was shot twice, but survived and is doing well
