Fall Creek (WQOW) - A new program is being offered at an area library.
Monday, the first ever "Autism Spectrum Night" was held at the Fall Creek Public Library. The program features different activities designed for families of children with autism.
Funding for the program came to the library through a federal grant. The money will be used make the library a more friendly environment for children with autism... That might include light filters or purchasing a quieter hand-dryer.
"I think it's important to make sure that everybody in the community knows that they can use the library and that we are willing to work with and make possible accommodations when necessary. We've got a lot of resources, we've got a lot of opportunities and if we're not serving the entire population. We're missing out on something and they're missing out," says Jenna Gilles, the program coordinator at Fall Creek Public Library.
The Fall Creek Library hopes to start offering spectrum nights once every month for families.
