Lake Hallie (WQOW) - An area community is looking into a sand moratorium, just days after hearing from concerned residents.
During a Lake Hallie Village Board meeting on Monday, about a half-dozen residents voiced their concerns about frac sand mining.
The village isn't aware of any sand mining companies interested in coming to the area, but Landmark Christian Church in Lake Hallie says it's been contacted by a company looking to buy its property. All eight acres including the building. The church says it wasn't looking to sell. Church officials aren't releasing any details about the company or why it's interested in the property.
Thursday, the board will hold a special meeting to discuss a possible moratorium for sand companies. That meeting starts at 8:00pm.
