Eau Claire (WQOW) - As the August primary draws closer, a Republican candidate makes at stop in the Chippewa Valley.
Jeff Fitzgerald was in Eau Claire on Tuesday. He currently serves as the Speaker of the Assembly, but is running for U.S. Senate. Fitzgerald was at Badger State Inc.
"There are a lot of small businesses that are a part of that economy, and that's really who's been struggling," says Jeff Fitzgerald, (R) U.S. Senate Candidate. "I think we've been struggling due to the tax climate and the regulatory climate, we came here to talk to the owners and see what they're hearing out there and get their opinion on how we can become stronger as a state and as a country."
Fitzgerald is one of several Republicans eyeing the seat currently held by Senator Herb Kohl who is retiring. A primary will be held on August 14th. Absentee voting is already underway.
