Madison (WQOW)- A jury finds an area tribal member guilty of bribery and tax crimes in a multi-million dollar case.

Tim Whiteagle, of Black River Falls, was accused of soliciting more than three million dollars in bribe money from companies wanting to do business with the Ho-Chunk nNation. A jury deliberated for nearly 7 hours Wednesday before finding him guilty.

Whiteagle gave Clarence Pettibone, an elected tribal official, money and other valuable items including a car, vacation trips and NFL tickets.

Deb Atherton helped Whiteagle solicit the bribes.  Pettibone was sentenced in July to 5 years in prison.  Atherton will be sentenced in October.
