Bielema says Ball will miss part of camp

Posted:

Madison (WQOW) -- Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema says running back Montee Ball will miss practice time following an attack Wednesday morning.

According to a City of Madison Police report, witnesses reported that five black males jumped Ball around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, knocked him to the ground, and kicked him.  Ball was taken to the hospital with head injuries.  The incident is being investigated as an unprovoked assault.

In an interview with a Madison television station, Bielema said Ball won't be ready for camp after suffering a concussion. The coach went on to say he hopes to spare Ball any extra hits and that he'd likely start practicing the week before the Badgers first game of the season.
