Lake Hallie (Press Release) - On Sunday July 8, 2012 Officer Travis Hakes of the Lake Hallie Police Department was on patrol when he came across a vehicle in the ditch on 130th Street at 27th Avenue. This is near the Marshfield Clinic in the Village of Lake Hallie. The officer observed a vehicle in a ditch with a flat tire. Upon checking the status of the vehicle the driver was found to have been drinking. Field sobriety tests were conducted and the driver was arrested for first offense operating while intoxicated. A legal blood draw was conducted. The driver was a 37-year-old female who was living in an area motel.
On Thursday August 2, 2012 the Lake Hallie Police received a response from the State Department of Hygiene who analyzed the defendant's blood sample. They reported that the female driver had a reported level of 0.416 g/100mL. Legally intoxicated in the State of Wisconsin is .08.
The driver told the officer that she was attempting to transport her friend to the Marshfield Clinic as he was previously injured. The driver was released at the time of the arrest to the hospital staff due to her high level of intoxication. The charges were a 1st offense operating while intoxicated which is a civil not criminal violation.
