Siblings accused of stealing thousands from mother's estate

Posted:

Chippewa County (WQOW) - A brother and sister from Bloomer face charges of stealing from their mother's estate.

Russell J. Hansen and Nancy J. Smith are accused of stealing $60,000-$80,000.

Investigators say Hansen had power of attorney and control of the estate of Dorothy Hansen.   She was the former operator of the Twi-Lite Motel in Bloomer.

The investigation began after one of their siblings questioned numerous withdrawals from bank accounts. Arrest warrants have now been issued for both. They apparently moved out of state after the investigation began.
