Convicted sex offender heading back to prison

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A convicted sex offender who was released to live in Ladysmith several years ago is going back to prison.

Ray Wimer was found to be a sexually violent person in 2001. He spent time in a mental institution and in prison before being released in 2009. But last year he was again charged with sexual assault and soliciting sex from a 17-year-old boy.

This week a Rusk County judge sentenced Wimer to 10 years in prison, followed by more than two years in jail.
