Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Chippewa Valley rallies together in a big way to help feed those in need.
Gordy's County Market on East Hamilton Avenue in Eau Claire and Feed My People Food Bank held an auction on Friday. It's the eighth year of the auction and for the first time, a car made its way to the auction block. Almost 400 people registered for the event, and all proceeds go to Feed My People. "They've been in existence for 30 years, and they reach a lot of families in and around Wisconsin, 14 counties as a matter of fact. They go all the way up to Ladysmith, and we have a store up there. So we really feel it's important to tag-team with these guys and make a difference in the lives of people locally," said Matt "The Gordy's Guru" Selvig.
Organizers had hoped to raise $50,000 at the event. They did that and then some. The event raised about $60,000.
