Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The Express couldn't regain the momentum after a La Crosse three-run home run, falling Sunday 8-4.
The Express got back-to-back home runs from Nick Addison and Casey Gillaspie in the 1st inning, giving Eau Claire its first lead of the game. But Matt Chapman answered in the second inning with a three-run home run, giving La Crosse the lead for good.
Starter Kye Winter was saddled with the loss. He allowed six runs in six innings, walking five Loggers while striking out six.
"I think it's just a long summer season. Obviously our record isn't the best. We're struggling a little bit. I think everyone on the team is tired. 70 games in 75 days is a grind, especially after a full college season," says third baseman Jimmy Allen.
The Express have seven games left in the season. They wrap up the series with La Crosse Monday at Copeland Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
