Menomonie (WQOW)-An area humane society is looking to add-on.
The Dunn County Humane Society is planning to expand its shelter to meet a new Wisconsin law. Act 90, or the puppy mill law, went into effect last year. The law set requirements on the size of primary enclosures for dogs. Right now some of the enclosures at the shelter do not meet those requirements. The humane society would like to remodel the enclosures and expand the building.
"We're looking to enclose our outside dog runs and part of that addition we wanted to get some land, it's right out front of our building where the parking lot is and into our two storage buildings, that was deeded to us back in 2009 but never transferred to us," said Jim Lilli, Dunn County Humane Society.
The city will discuss the project Monday night at the Menomonie City Council meeting. If approved the humane society hopes to have the project finished by November first.
