Change of direction for busing in school district

Posted:

Altoona (WQOW) - A local school board focuses on busing as a way to cut costs.

On Monday night, the Altoona School Board voted to contract its school bus service with Student Transit in Eau Claire.  Currently, Altoona has 10 of its own buses.  It plans to sell those to Student Transit, which would then be responsible for all busing and maintenance.

The Altoona superintendent says she's unsure of how much money the district will save, but believes it will be a considerable amount.  Pending a legal review of a contract, the busing change will take place in January.
