Eau Claire (WQOW) -- The location of Dave Zien's wedding will be tough to top.
Last week, he tied the knot on top of Crazy Horse. "It was a very spiritual, uplifting, a very Christian ceremony on top of the world's largest stone monument," said Dave Zien, a former area lawmaker.
Dave and his new wife, Ginger, exchanged vows on top of the mountain before the start of Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. "We've both been enamored with the Black Hills and South Dakota... and we both love Crazy Horse. I have quite a history with Crazy Horse and so does Ginger... I proposed to her in April on the top of Crazy Horse and low and behold, we were married Wednesday, August 1st," added Zien.
Zien, who's usually seen in the area on his motorcycle, did not ride it to get to the top of the mountain. Instead, they rode in vans. He says that typically costs $125 a person. When asked how much they had to pay to get everyone in his wedding party to the top of Crazy Horse, Zien called it, "a dear amount."
The monument itself is still a work in progress, honoring the Lakota leader. The face was dedicated at the 50th anniversary of the memorial in 1998. The work has since been focused on blocking out the horse's head.
