Eau Claire (WQOW) - A man is airlifted to the hospital after being attacked by a bull.

It happened Wednesday night in rural Chetek. The Rusk County Sheriffs Department says Richard Hamholm, 60, was charged by the bull. Rescuers had some difficulty getting to the victim because animal control did not have the equipment to tranquilize an animal of that size.

They eventually got him to safety. His condition is not known.

The bull was shot and killed at the request of the family. It was then butchered.
