Eau Claire (WQOW) - A local man convicted of kicking and stomping a cat cannot have any pets for the next year.

That's part of the sentence handed down Wednesday to James Littlefield. The Eau Claire man was charged last summer after a resident saw him kicking something along Mitchell Road. A deputy found the cat barely alive and had to put it down.

He says Littlefield said "I did not kill the cat, I just took care of the problem." Littlefield will spend 15-days in jail and must get a psychological exam.
