Eau Claire (WQOW) -- Eau Claire Memorial baseball player Grant Peikert says he will be playing his college ball at Northwestern.

Peikert spoke with WQOW-News 18's Stephen Kelley on the phone Friday and says a campus visit in the spring sealed his decision. Peikert had also been considering schools in the Ivy League and Missouri Valley Conference.

Coaches at Northwestern told Peikert he'd have a chance to start for the Wildcats his freshman year. He will finish his high school career this upcoming year. Peikert batted .378 for the Old Abes last season.
