Jackson County (WQOW)- On August
10, 2012 at approximately 3:50 PM, the Jackson County Sheriff's 911 Emergency
Dispatch Center received information concerning a crash involving a single
motorcycle.
The crash
was reported to be on County Highway O at Interstate 94 in the Township of Millston
in Jackson County.
According
to Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera, Sheriff's authorities along with the
Black River Falls Fire/EMS immediately responded to the scene of the crash.
Upon
arrival, authorities found the crash to involve a single motorcycle with the
lone occupant being attended to by bystanders. Deputies took over lifesaving
efforts until rescue personnel arrived on the scene.
Initial
information collected by authorities related that the lone motorcycle was
originally eastbound on Interstate 94 at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle
reportedly exited the Interstate at County Highway O (MP 128) maintaining a
high rate of speed. The motorcycle then left the roadway from the ramp and
subsequently collided with a highway sign that launched the driver airborne
across County Highway O.
Despite
lifesaving efforts the driver of the motorcycle expired at the scene of the
crash. The driver has been identified as a 23 year old resident of Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
Authorities are withholding identification of the driver, pending notification
of relatives.
This crash
remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
