Battle Creek, MI (WQOW) -- In very similar games, Eau Claire could not come up with the clutch hit to give them the win.
In game one, Bombers' starter Kyle Teague threw a shutout, allowing just two hits. Kye Winter matched the Battle Creek hurler, allowing just four hits while striking out five. But the Bombers were able to get the game's only run in the 6th, handing Winter the loss. Eau Claire had a chance in the top of the 7th, with the tying run at second, but Ty Forney flew out to center field to end the game.
Game two also proved to be a pitchers duel between Alex Tukey and Matt Trowbridge. The latter struck out nine batters in six innings of work, but allowed the game's only run. Tukey was solid, allowing just four hits and three walks while striking out five.
Both teams close out the series, and the season, tomorrow at 4:05 p.m. at C.O. Brown Field.
