UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies following crash

UPDATE - On August 21, 2012, the Ramsey County Minnesota Medical Examiners Office notified the Polk County Sheriff's Office that Jason R. Casey had died at Regions Hospital.

Casey is the 9th person to die on Polk County Roads in 2012.

Polk County (Press Release) - On Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. the Polk County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motorcycle crash on 290th Avenue, west of River Road in the Town of Sterling.

Deputies responding to the scene found that Jason R. Casey, 41, of Danbury was traveling eastbound on 290th Avenue, approximately 1/4 mile west of River Road on a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve and entered a wooded area. Casey was ejected from the motorcycle and was initially assisted by members of the group he was riding with.

Casey was transported from the scene by ambulance to the Cushing Ball Field where he was transferred to a waiting air ambulance and taken to Regions Hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash.

As of Monday, August 13, 2012, Casey remains in critical condition.

This crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
