COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Police say a gunman was being served an eviction notice before he opened fire from inside a home near Texas A&M and killed a law enforcement officer.
College Station Assistant Police Chief Scott McCollum says Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann was among three people, including the gunman, killed in a shootout at the house Monday.
McCollum says a 65-year-old man was the third person killed. A woman and three law enforcement officers also were injured.
McCollum says Bachmann went to the off-campus home near A&M's football stadium early Monday afternoon when the gunman opened fire. Other officers responded to the scene after receiving a call that an officer was down.
The shooting prompted Texas A&M to send out an alert warning students and residents to stay away from the area.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (WKOW) -- Police say at least one law enforcement officer and one civilian have been killed in a shooting near Texas A&M University's campus.
Assistant Chief Scott McCollum says the gunman also was shot Monday afternoon before being taken into custody.
McCollum say the officer killed was a constable with Brazos County.
He says a College Station police officer and another woman also were hurt in the shooting.

Bryan Police spokesman Jon Agnew says the shooter is in custody Monday. Agnew says officers have established a perimeter around the area just east of campus, but they don't believe a second suspect is involved.
Agnew says police don't know if shooter was a student at A&M.
Bryan is College Station's sister city and its officers are assisting in the case.

College Station police spokeswoman Rhonda Seaton tells CNN multiple people have been shot, including law enforcement, but she doesn't know the extent of the injuries. Multiple calls to Seaton's cell phone from The Associated Press have gone straight to voicemail.
The university issued an alert on its website just before 12:30 p.m. Monday warning of an active shooter near the campus football stadium, Kyle Field. The warning tells residents and students to avoid the area.
Seaton says the shooting happened within a block or two of campus sometime before 12:45 p.m. She says police have one suspect in custody.

The university later said the shooter was taken into custody, but warned residents and students to still avoid the area.
There was no immediate information on injuries.
College Station lies about 90 miles northwest of Houston.
