Eau Claire (WQOW) - A sentencing date will now be set for a western Wisconsin man accused of hitting a man in the head with a sledgehammer.
It was two years ago in September when police said Brandon Chandler got into an altercation with two other men outside a home in rural Hixton.
Witnesses say Alex Hanson tried to break up the fight but Chandler got a sledgehammer and hit Hanson in the head with it. He suffered a apparent skull fracture.
Friday in court a charge of attempted murder was reduced to recklessly causing injury. Chandler, of Ettrick, pleaded no contest to that charge.
