Low turnout expected for August primary

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - If you plan on heading out to the polls for the August Primary, here are a few things you should know.

Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.  Because the election is a primary, voters can only vote for candidates from one political party.

In Eau Claire the city clerk is expecting a voter turnout of 12 to 18 percent.  That is lower than the state's prediction of 20 percent.

Here are some races WQOW News 18 will be covering on Tuesday.  WQOW News 18 will cover the GOP U.S. Senate primary, the recall for a supervisor in the Town of Sumner in Barron County and a referendum vote in the Barron School District.  The district is looking for an extra $790,000 a year for five years.  WQOW News 18 will have the results online and on the air.
