Vegetables grown for food pantry in Thorp vandalized

Posted:

Thorp (WQOW) - Food that was supposed to stock pantry shelves has been destroyed.

The Community Gardens in Thorp were vandalized.  The city says two plots full of vegetables and more than 100 potato plants were targeted.  The Boy Scouts had planted the vegetables to grow food for the food pantry.

The gardens were inspected today and the city believes someone used herbicide, like roundup, to destroy the plants.  The city says that it most likely happened between five and 15 days ago.  Call Thorp police if you know anything that can help in the case.
