NEW YORK (AP) -- What would Noah Webster think of this? F-bomb makes it in the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary tomorrow.
Dictionary editors say they've traced the word back to 1988, in a Newsday story that had the now-deceased Mets catcher Gary Carter talking about how he had given them up, along with other profanities.
Many online dictionary and reference sites already list F-bomb, but the 114-year-old Merriam-Webster is only now putting into print.
Other words making the grade this year: sexting, energy drink and life coach.
