Domestic abuse reported falsely

Rice Lake (Press Release) - On Saturday, August 11, 2012 at approximately 1 a.m. a male reported to the Rice Lake Police Department that his girlfriend had been the victim of a battery by an unknown male assailant.

The male reported that the assault took place in a Rice Lake parking lot where the suspect fled the area. The female victim, 24, had cuts to her face and was bleeding. She was taken to the hospital and the suspect could not be found.

On Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at approximately 7:40 p.m. the female reported to police that she was not the victim of an unknown attacker; but had been a victim of domestic batter stemming from the above incident and the suspect was identified as the original caller (her boyfriend) and that the incident did not involve an unknown male suspect.

The male, 26, of Rice Lake was taken into custody and transported to the Barron County jail pending charges of substantial battery, domestic abuse, obstructing an officer and a probation violation. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance at 1 p.m. Friday.

In an unrelated incident, on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 10:52 a.m., a 21-year-old female reported to the Rice Lake Police Department that an unknown man entered her locked apartment while she was present and without her consent by slipping the lock. She further reported that the suspect lived in her apartment complex but she did not know him.

Rice Lake police later arrested the male, 34, and he was transported to the Barron County jail pending charges of illegally entering a locked dwelling. he is scheduled to make a court appearance at 1 p.m. on Friday.
