Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- A local sheriff's department is ready to roll out a program to save time while in the field.
The Chippewa County sheriff's department is ready to install laptops in their squad cars. The laptops are being installed in 25 cars, each system is expected to cost around $5,000. The laptops should help save time and make filing more consistent for department staff.
"It minimizes a couple of items for us. It minimized a lot of clerical reporting so it was on site reporting writing versus bringing the reports back to the office for the clerical staff to report, which saved clerical time, dispatch time and time if there were any issues or transitions to the clerk of courts," said Frank Pascarella, Chippewa County Administrator.
The department has had the hardware for a while now but was waiting for a piece of equipment that has been on back order for about four months. Currently there are four squads that have the laptops the rest should be installed by next year.
