Hot weather leads to air conditioner theft

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The recent hot weather apparently was too much for a local woman who now faces criminal charges.

Morranda Wik is charged with stealing an air conditioner from the window of a Fall Creek residence.

Police say she told them she was partying with some friends in Eau Claire earlier this month and that it was hot in the upstairs apartment. Officers say she told the others she knew where they could get an air conditioner, and allegedly drove to Fall Creek and stole it from the home of an acquaintance.  

Wik is now charged with felony burglary.
