Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire movie theater checks out after a bomb threat is called in at the company's headquarters.
Friday morning, a bomb threat was called into the Carmike Cinemas corporate office in Columbus, Georgia. Law enforcement says the caller claimed bombs had been planted at several theaters across the country, but didn't say where those theaters were.
The Eau Claire Police Department says it went to the Eau Claire Carmike Cinema after the threat was made. Police say there was no threat against the Eau Claire theater, however they did talk to the manager and did a walk through of the theater. Police did not find anything suspicious.
The threat caused a number of other movie theaters around the country to be searched as well, but nothing was found. Authorities believe the caller may be a former employee.
