Eau Claire (WQOW) - As summer starts to wind down, Fairfax
Pool is getting ready to close out its season.
The last day the pool will be open for
swimming is this Saturday, August 25th. Thanks to a warm and dry summer, the
pool has been a popular place to cool off. Fairfax Pool says it saw around 2,500
more visitors this year than in 2011.
"We were pretty
constant in the beginning and then yeah, when we hit that high streak of the 3
to 4 weeks where it was 90 or 100 plus, then it really spiked up. Now that
we're winding down and people are going on vacation we've seen a little less,
but we'll still be ahead this year," said pool manager Christine Mohr.
Fairfax was not the only pool to see an
increase in attendance. The community pool in Chippewa Falls
saw about 20 more people per day compared to a year ago.
