Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire's City Council is looking into buying a home on Cameron Street in the hopes of making a local lake more accessible to hikers and bikers.
Part of the city's long-range plan is to allow for a paved recreational trail that will completely surround Half Moon Lake. The city council met Monday night to talk about plans to purchase 813 Cameron Street, a property along the lake. A matching grant from the DNR could help cover the cost. The next step is to begin negotiations with the property owner.
"It would open up many opportunities for the public to improve our green space, and to be able to view Half Moon Lake, which is a desirable thing for the public to be able to see one of it's premier natural features," said Kerry Kincaid.
