Eau Claire (WQOW) - After a few minor setbacks, Eau Claire County's new jail is almost complete.

Originally, the jail was supposed to begin housing inmates around this time. Now, that transition won't happen until the week of September 10th.   The jail was waiting on several pieces of reflective security glass.  The glass panels had been delivered three times, and each time, the glass was broken. After another delivery, the glass is now installed.

Security electronics are also complete and the jailers have been able to begin training with the new system.  The renovation of the third floor, where the inmates are currently housed, should begin the week of September 17th.

The county says the delays should not add to the price tag.  The entire jail and courthouse remodeling project is expected to cost more than 58 million dollars, and could wrap up by September of next year
