Eau Claire (WQOW)-A local high school is using technology to offer new classes to its students.
Regis High School in Eau Claire spent $50,000 to install video conferencing technology this summer. The technology will allow students to sit in on classes that are being taught in real time hundreds of miles away. the goal is to offer students more options when it comes to selecting courses.
"We have a student taking a child care class through the video conferencing distance learning equipment. She wants to go into child care, so this is a great way to get that opportunity in high school," says John Cook the technology coordinator at the high school. "We have students taking astronomy, physics, French; these are classes that we couldn't bring a teacher in to teach."
Using the distance learning technology students are also able to earn college credits.
