Company expanding in Chippewa Falls

Posted:

Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- A local company is bringing more jobs to Chippewa Falls a week after another company announces plans to leave.  ChemCeed in Chippewa Falls says business is good.  So good in fact the company broke ground Wednesday on a 4,000 square foot warehouse facility that will serve as its new headquarters.

"I think a business like this has so many opportunities to expand," notes Chippewa Falls Mayor Greg Hoffman.

"What we've been doing over the last three years is justified... basically this expansion, this growth that we are doing now," says ChemCeed Vice President Rolly Enderes.  "Within the next year to two, we would at least do five to seven jobs immediately and then going from there, expanding depending on how fast things are going."

The news couldn't come at a better time for the Chippewa Falls community.  Pactiv announced last week it would be closing its manufacturing plant at the end of the year. The closure means more than 160 people will be out of a job.  But the city says that facility is already getting interest from other businesses.

"We've already had people looking at that building at Pactiv," Hoffman reveals.  "We've had so many pluses this summer; Premium Waters, Advanced Laser.  It creates a lot of jobs just not for Chippewa Falls but the whole Chippewa Valley."

"I think you are going to hear some more positive news in the next couple weeks," remarks Charlie Walker with the Chippewa County Economic Development Corporation.  "There's going to be a few more announcements coming down the pipe.  So our entrepreneurs and our small business community are strong and working together and nothing is going to stop them."

ChemCeed distributes chemicals that are used as additives and has another facility in Chippewa Falls off Olson Drive.  Eight people work at that building.   The company says its new headquarters is expected to be finished by February.
